USDA Certified Organic
The Ollalie blackberry is one of our most prized blackberries. Olallieberries are a cross between the Youngberry and Loganberry, and are named after the Chinook word for "berry". They were developed in 1935 by George Waldo. Ripens mid to late summer for most locations. The fruit of the ollalieberries produces tasty, dark purple-black, medium-sized berries with an good shelf life. Olallieberries pair well with spices like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and nutmeg, as well as fruits like citrus, peaches, and strawberries. Olallieberries can be eaten fresh, or used in baked goods, jams, syrups, smoothies, and more. They can also be blended into milkshakes or pressed into juice for cocktails and lemonades. When mature Ollalieberries can be thinned to 4 to 8 of the strongest canes, shorten the laterals to 8" to 14” and remove any growing on the lower 2 to 3’ of the central canes. Tie to a fence or trellis to provide support. Two year cane.
