The Heart & Soul of Our Nursery

Carolyn Harrison, founder of our nursery's "mother tree", Sonoma Antique Apple Nursery, passed away late spring of 2025. With a great enthusiasm for life and with warmth and laughter that drew many close to her, Carolyn Kay Harrison lived a full life for 86 years. Carolyn passed away in peace during the early hours of May 15, 2025, with her husband and co-founder of Sonoma Antique Apple nursery, Terry Harrison, at her side. In the early 1970's Carolyn and Terry grew wine grapes and other fruits and vegetables, selling the grapes to local wineries and the other produce to farmers' markets and local restaurants. Their biggest farming adventure was Sonoma Antique Apple Nursery, propagating unusual apples and pears and sending the young trees all over the country via UPS. It was one of the earliest organic grape growers and fruit tree nurseries. Under the management of their former farm manager, it is now known as Trees of Antiquity. We will forever be indebted for her kind generosity & valued mentorship. She remains a presence in our daily nursery work, where rarely a day passes that we are not reminded of a lesson she eagerly shared in life and the nursery.

Today

Trees of Antiquity is a specialty nursery located in Paso Robles, California, that specializes in growing and selling heirloom fruit trees. They offer a wide variety of fruit trees, including apples, pears, peaches, plums, and more, many of which are not commonly found in traditional nurseries. The trees are grown from old-fashioned, time-tested varieties and are propagated from scionwood or from root cuttings, ensuring the preservation of their genetic heritage.

Trees of Antiquity is known for its commitment to preserving and promoting heirloom fruit trees, and for providing high-quality, disease-resistant, and historically significant varieties. The nursery offers a variety of resources for customers, including detailed descriptions of each variety, growing tips and advice, and a knowledgeable staff who can answer questions and help customers select the best trees for their needs.
