The Early Purple Guigne is one of the earlier ripening cherries, often simply referred to as the Early Purple back in the day, but by late 1800's folks in France called it the the Early Purple Guigne. Skin is dark red, becoming purple at full maturity. Flesh is dark, tender, juicy with a rich and sweet flavor. The last few days of growth it fills out wonderfully, and becomes almost a so-called "purple cherry." The tree is a vigorous, spreading and weeping grower, and becomes quite productive as the tree acquires age.Spreading tree around 12 to 16 ft.when mature.
