Originaly from Spain, the Verte fig tree produces an excellent, medium size, sweet, greenish yellow, thin skinned fig with  strawberry flesh. The Verte fig tree remains a small tree when mature, so great with small gardens and container growing. The Verte fig tree bears from mid-season to late season extending the harvest.   The Verte fig possess a fine, excellent flavor either fresh or dried. A fairly closed eye, so good choice for wet and humid summer locations. Also referred to as Green Ischia. Growing Considerations for Verte Fig

USDA Zones: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11

Uses: Fresh Eating, Canning / Preserves

Harvest Period: Very Late

Low Chill: Yes

Pollination Requirement: Self-Fertile

Years to Bear: 1 year

Recommended Spacing: 8-12 ft.

Mature Size: 12-16 ft.

Pruning: Summer prune to maintain 8 ft.

Water Requierments: 12-15 gallons per week May through Sept.

Shape when Shipped: Whip (no branching)


Shipping Note:  Our fruit trees and berries are delivered to you bareroot during their winter dormancy from January through May depending on USDA zone. Trees are shipped with your invoice and helpful planting directions. There is no minimum quantity required but shipping rate for an individual tree is expensive since UPS/Fed Ex charge a dimensional weight and an additional handling fee to ship a tree.
