The Black Mission Fig also referred to as the Franciscan Fig. Large fruit with purplish black skin, strawberry flesh that is the taste standard for figs. The most productive variety, both of breba (early) crop, and heavy main (late) crop. Black Mission Fig is best for eating fresh or drying. Franciscan friars brought them to the California missions. First mentioned in 1769. Figs are 2-3 feet in height when shipped.

Pruning: Summer prune to maintain 8 ft.

Water Requierments: 12-15 gallons per week May through Sept.

Shape when Shipped: Whip (no branching)
