WarrantyOur trees are guaranteed to live and grow if planted in accordance with our planting instructions. We will replace any tree that fails to grow if notified by July 1st of the same year in which you received the tree. We may request tree returned to us for inspection or email us illustrative photos. We reserve the right to not re-issue credit for replacement of already replaced trees. Any tree which proves to be different variety than that ordered will be replaced. We do ask that you pay for shipping and handling on all replacements. We are not liable for more than what was paid originally for the trees, and reserve the right to make substitution if the variety in question is not available.
Our shipping season begins in the second week of January, later if rain slows our digging, and continues until all stock is sold or until our trees bud out approximately mid-March for peaches and nectarines, beginning of April for apples and pears. If you live in a region where the ground isn’t frozen, the trees should be planted at the earliest available ship date. Many folks confuse “garden planting” with bareroot planting. Bareroot trees must be planted while they are dormant and long before the last frost date for your area. Here in
Please note: Snow or frost will not hurt a dormant tree. For most of USDA Zones 3-5 , this means planting in late March/early April while there is still sufficient moisture in the soil. Early planting can often make the difference in the first year between a vigorous tree and one that struggles for survival. It allows the tree to send out initial roots months before bud break. If your soil is too sloppy or frozen when the trees arrive, “heel” the trees in (cover the roots) with moist soil or sand in a shady place to protect the roots from freezing until your ground thaws/dries sufficiently. In areas where the ground is frozen solid during the winter, notify us when the order is placed and we will place your order in cold storage for mid March or early April shipping date. All orders shipped after March 17 (recipients in USDA zones 5 and lower) will be subject to a 5% cold storage fee. No cancellations can be allowed once in cold storage.
We ship our trees out every Monday from mid January through to the first of April. Our trees are packaged in a new, cardboard box with the roots tucked in a sturdy plastic bag with moist shredded paper inside tightly bound with string. This will insure the trees roots will remain sufficiently moist upon arrival to your home. We also include the appropriate planting instructions for the trees, grapes or berries. Please advise immediately if your package arrives damaged.
NOTE: All orders are shipped using UPS. We only ship within the U.S. However, if you live out side of the U.S., you still may purchase from us if you select a shipping destination within the U.S.. This will give you an option to purchase our products as gifts for family and friends who live within the U.S.
These shipping charges are for trees and other items purchased at the same time. If you purchase other items separately without a tree purchase, you will only be charged for the actual UPS shipping cost.(ie. books and fertilizers.)

Pickup Location for Fruit Trees
We have arranged a drop off location for local folks who wish to save on shipping costs and pick-up their orders. Please note this is the only pick up location available. Vintage Gardens in Sebastopol will be operating as a mail order business and will no longer have a retail store. We apologize for any inconvenience this brings to people who have used this as a pick up location in the past and we hope to establish a new location in the near future.
